Mission debrief

About Doomsday Protocol

A one-day, fan-made browser game built for Global James Bond Day, 5 October 2026 — the anniversary of Dr. No. No accounts, no trackers, no downloads: just a randomized cipher challenge and a love of the series.

The concept

Bond fans mark 5 October because Dr. No reached UK cinemas on that date in 1962. For one day, this site turns that anniversary into a playable briefing: SPECTRE has armed a device, and you disarm it by solving a stack of randomized modules.

Every run is generated fresh. Modules, cipher keywords, wire rules, keypad facts, memory sequences and binary bytes all change, so replaying genuinely gives a new puzzle.

How the scoring works

  • 100 points per cleared module
  • +5 points per second left on the clock
  • −20 points per miss (and seconds lost in timed modes)
  • Ranks: Probationary Recruit → Field Agent → Double-O Candidate → 00 Agent → 007

Accessibility & privacy

  • Works with keyboard and touch; visible focus outlines throughout.
  • Light and dark themes, remembered locally.
  • Respects prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Semantic headings, ARIA labels and live regions for game feedback.
  • Memory nodes use both colour and a shape glyph.
  • Best scores and theme are stored only in your own browser; a try/catch means the site still works if storage is blocked.
  • No analytics, no cookies, no external requests except Google Fonts.
