About

About Nobel Rush

A one-day web arcade made for Nobel Prize announcement week, 5–12 October 2026.

The idea

Every October the world waits for six announcements from Stockholm and Oslo. Nobel Rush turns a century and a quarter of breakthroughs into a game you can learn, play and share in a few minutes. It began from a simple question: do you actually know which field each famous discovery won in?

Everything here is real. Each card is a genuine laureate and prize citation, drawn from a dataset of more than eighty entries, with a fact revealed after every answer.

How to play

  • Read the card. It describes a real Nobel-winning achievement, with the category hidden.
  • Pick the category. Tap one of the six buttons, or press keys 1–6.
  • Beat the timer. Correct answers build a combo multiplier and earn a speed bonus. A wrong answer or a timeout costs a life.
  • Use power-ups. ❄ Freeze adds six seconds, ½ 50/50 removes three wrong options, ⤼ Skip moves on.
  • Finish. Six levels of five cards each. Reach the end and you are a Nobel Week champion; your rank depends on your score.

Four modes — Practice (untimed, for learning), Student, Scholar and Laureate (fast and unforgiving) — mean there is a way in for everyone and a way to keep pushing.
