About

Why Ballon d'Order?

On 26 October 2026 the Ballon d'Or turned 70. The ceremony moved to the London Palladium to honour the first winner, Stanley Matthews, and Harry Kane became the first Englishman to win it in 25 years.

Arguments about who deserved it never stop, and nor do arguments about the history: was Cruyff's first before or after Beckenbauer's? Who won between Van Basten's second and his third? This site turns those arguments into a game you can finish on a lunch break.

How to play

Timeline

You start with one winner on your timeline. Each new card shows a winner, their club, nation and position, but no year. Tap the gap where you think it belongs. Get it right and the card stays, and every correct card in a row adds a streak bonus. Get it wrong and you lose a life: the card flashes red where it should have gone, then it's discarded. Some players won more than once at the same club (Messi at Barcelona, Platini at Juventus), and those cards are interchangeable. If one Messi-at-Barcelona card lands where another one belongs, it counts. Press N to go to the next card.

Who Am I?

Ten mystery winners. A correct guess on clue 1 is worth 5 points, and each extra clue or wrong guess costs a point.

Golden Year

Type a birth year to see who won the Ballon d'Or that year and at your birthday milestones. Then download or share your card.

All-Time Ballot

Rank five winners. Since 2022 each Ballon d'Or juror ranks ten players, and first to fifth place score 15, 12, 10, 8 and 7 points. Your ballot uses the same top-five scale.
