The 2026 ceremony
The 70th Ballon d'Or left Paris for London to honour the first winner, Stanley Matthews. Harry Kane won the men's award. He is the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001, after a 2025-26 season of 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England: Bayern won the Bundesliga, and England finished third at the World Cup, their best since 1966. Alexia Putellas won her third Ballon d'Or Féminin, equalling Aitana Bonmatí's record.
